Features
typically on the lower limbs
initially small red papule
Progresses to deep, red, necrotic ulcers with a violaceous border
Systemic symptoms (malaise, fever, myalgia)

Causes*
idiopathic (50%)
inflammatory bowel disease (UC, Crohn's
rheumatoid arthritis, SLE
myeloproliferative disorders
lymphoma, myeloid leukaemias
monoclonal gammopathy (IgA)
primary biliary cirrhosis

Management

First line

Oral corticosteroids

Second line

ciclosporin
infliximab
