Hypertensive Urgencies/Emergencies

Severe rises in blood pressure can either be classified into hypertensive urgencies or emergencies. In hypertensive urgencies there is no evidence of end-organ damage, while with emergencies, there is an impending risk to the patient’s cardiovascular system.

Hypertensive emergencies include: hypertensive encephalopathy, hypertensive left ventricular failure and acute aortic dissection
